The Bay of Plenty's waters are internationally renowned for game fishing catches, with many celebrities chasing the big marlin, kingfish and tuna amongst many other species of fish. Dolphins are often playing around the boats and it isn't even rare to see whales in the Bay's crystal clear waters.

The climate is relatively mild all year round; with usually hot summer weather between January and April. The sunny climate is ideal for growing avocados, kiwi fruit, citrus and other subtropical fruits for which the region is renowned.
